14 February 2024 – Fr Patrick’s Notes

  • To rest a while: Even Jesus commanded rest. This is what he says in Mark’s Gospel that we are focusing on in Year B: “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while” (Mark 6:31) That being said, it is good to be back in the parish again to further our journey together as fellow pilgrims to the Father as we mission like Jesus.
  • Fr. Augustine’s Funeral: I attended Fr. Augustine’s funeral on Tuesday 16th January 2024 representing this parish. We were the privileged parish to be the parish he served in 2021 before his retirement from public ministry due to ill health.
  • Notice the change in our Mass Bulletin’s heading: It used to be “Holy Trinity Parish Mission.” It is now, “Holy Trinity Missional Parish.” Jesus had Capernaum as his missionary base. Our missionary base is this parish. In our 60th Year, in 2024 may we be followers of who endlessly invite everyone we know, family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances into the life of the parish centred around events in the hall and the grounds. Who knows, some souls may even be up in church worshipping beside us. Let us use our many gifts of hospitality to do the Lord’s work. Is it now time for a Social Committee again to bring God’s life back to the parish? Come, Holy Spirit.
  • Thank you to Fr. Armando: A big thanks to Fr. Armando who kindly and generously and carefully cared for this parish, whilst I was away.
  • Fr. Patrick to now using his new office each day: Fr. Patrick will no longer be using his presbytery-home as his office. His workspace is now the parish office. Appointments with him will now be held there. His home is his home as his private personal space like everyone else. His office is where he goes “out” to work.
  • Our New Reconciliation Chapel: Now that the parish is blessed with a beautiful place to have our sins forgiven, Fr. Patick will be inviting suggestions next week regarding about the best times to make himself available to enter the Reconciliation Chapel for the Sacrament to be celebrated. Of course, he is always available at any time by prior appointment.
  • Lenten Booklets: These are for sale right now. Please purchase one for your soul’s journey through Lent. They are $10.00 for forty days of the best spiritual food.
  • Welcome Back Barbeque: Thank you to everyone who kindly arranged the barbeque Saturday night 3rd February, especially Deb and Finton who arranged it.
  • Lawn Care: Our reticulation man is onto the project of getting water to our in the summer heat. Everything in this parish, after its beautification, needs our ongoing maintenance and care. Our second collection contribution needs to be as generous as we can afford, in good conscience. Let all of us return to Him, His bounty to us. God will never be outdone in generosity.
