Gracious Gift: 18th May 2024

Dear Everyone

The words on everyone’s lips this weekend around the world is, “Come, Holy Spirit.” It’s Pentecost Sunday!

There are many titles for the Holy Spirit that we recite in the Litany to the Holy Spirit. But I have discovered a new title of the Holy Spirit that I think is wonderful. The title is: “In-between God.”

This imaginative title points to the fact that the flow of life, love and light within God in his Trinity of three divine persons also flows through us, also. It has flown through us since our spiritual birth of our Baptism, that was confirmed and strengthened at our Confirmation, and fed by our daily bread of the Eucharist where Jesus himself enters us, body, blood, soul, and divinity.

With and through and by both Jesus our Rescuer, and the Holy Spirit, our In-between God, we can be a person who lives and moves and have our being, living our pilgrimage-journeying lives, to our Father who art in heaven.

Next week’s ‘Gracious Gift’ will be early on Thursday next, as I need to elsewhere in Australia for five days next weekend. Come, Holy Spirit.

Take care
