Dear All
This Gracious Gift is early this week as I am leaving on a jet plane for a brief period of time and will not be in a position to send it out as normal on Saturday.
How much does the Holy Trinity mean to us? It’s the central mystery of our faith. The simplest version I know to seek to capture a mystery in mere words are from the words of the old hymn, “Firmly, I believe and truly.” Newman’s lyrics were, “God is three and God is one.”
There is a threeness in oneness in being human. We are body, mind and spirit. Yet we one entity in our humanity.
There’s a threeness in oneness is in a family: Mother, Father, Child.
There’s a threeness in oneness is in nature: Earth, Sea and Sky. Nature is the first Testament of God.
May we all bow in awe and wonder at the mystery of God who we hunger for at the core of our being and with whom we want to spend our eternity.
Take care
Fr. Patrick
