Dear all.
What are our thoughts about the word, “joy.” It’s the focus word for today’s readings and the opening prayer at Mass.
Is joy deeper than happiness? I believe so. Joy is deeper because joy is based on hope, our second theological virtue that gets its hope from the first theological virtue of faith.
And the fruit of faith and hope, that together is the source of our joy, is love, the third theological virtue.
The reason why Mother Church is focusing on joy this weekend is because this Sunday is the final Sunday of our post-resurrection time in the Liturgical Calendar.
Essentially, the fact that Jesus rose from the dead as victorious over sin and death, is, at the core of our being, the cause of our joy. We now know sin never wins.
Take care
